aug 1, 1950 - SONY G-Type

Description:

The ‘G-Type’ was Japan’s first reel to reel tape recorder. Initially, the recorder was a product for government use, hence the G in G-Type. The recording medium was a long-fiber craft paper ordered from a mill, onto which dissolved magnetic powder was painted. Users of the G-Type found the recorder neatly organized, with the transport system on top and recording controls on the front. There were carrying handles on both sides that made the thirty five kilogram unit easy to carry.
