The Alger Hiss trials caused a huge mess for the entirety of the United States. Not only did it manage to make a ton of politically involved people resign, and fire a ton more, but it touched The Sacred Hollywood Movie Makers, which is a sin by itself. These trials greatly increased the effects of the Red Scare because it caused a massive outbreak of panic throughout US Citizens. Since most members who were being called Communist were already in American government, people had more reason to believe that the people they had elected had really been communist spies. This hysteria caused many problems in the US, such as distrust between almost everybody, witch trials constantly being held within US Government, and plenty more irrational things.
