Description:
Its country of origin is the USA and was the first spacecraft to orbit around Mars. The science instruments which were part of the spacecraft were: narrow-angle TV cameras, infrared radiometer, ultraviolet spectrometer and infrared interferometer spectrometer. It also had four solar panels 215 x 90 cm each. It orbited around Mars for 342 days which resulted in a global mapping or the planet, including the first photographs of its volcanoes, polar caps and Valles Marineris.
