jun 6, 1944 - D-Day
Description:
Germany’s complete unpreparedness for D-Day due to long-running deception on the Allies’ part enabled Allied forces to succeed, as German high command was unaware of the extent of the assault until several hours after the first wave. The invasion inspired resistance groups throughout Western Europe to increase their activity, most notably in France and Belgium, as well as increasing pressure on Germany as Hitler was beginning to be driven back in both the Eastern and Western fronts.
