Description:

It was the first satellite to carry a living organism. It was a biological satellite which studied how life can survive in space. It was a cone shaped satellite with radio transmitters, a telemetry system, programming unit, regeneration and temperature control system.
As the Americans had still not contributed to the Space Race, the Soviets had continued their lead, making the Americans even more annoyed and jealous.
