apr 3, 1948 - Marshall Plan created
Description:
It was an American plan to economically strengthen Western Europe after world war ii. It created a market for American goods, promoted economic recovery and as a result reduced the threat and popularity of communism. They invested $17 billion by 1953 and showed their long term commitment to Western Europe. It united those that benefited but also unfortunately united those who didn't (as despite being offered, countries behind the iron curtain refused aid - as ordered by the USSR)
