Description:
Truman made a speech to congress outlining the that he believed the West faced from communism. In essence, the Truman Doctrine introduced policy of containment where America was committed in containing communism in the countries in which it has taken hold.
When Britain was unable to continue funding Greek royalists, Truman stepped in and provided them with the funds to prevent the advance of communism. Truman also funded Turkey to prevent a communist hold into the Mediterranean and the Middle East.
Later, after the takeover of China was seen as a serious failure, millions of dollars were also poured into the Japanese and Taiwanese economies to prevent them from being at risk of communism.
