aug 31, 1935 - Neutrality Acts (NAT)
Description:
From 1935 to 1937, the US government passed laws to make sure the United States would remain neutral if war broke out in Europe. The first act passed in 1935 forbade the sale and transport of weapons to nations at war. US citizens were also banned from traveling on ships of these nations. The second act which was passed in 1936 forbade loans and other forms of economic assistance, and the third act forbade arms sales to both sides of the Spanish Civil War. This represents American and National Identity because it represents the increased support for isolationism as America’s foreign policy.
