In an effort to bring Mexico out of its economic crisis, Zedillo put Mexico into the World Trade Organization, following his policies of attempting to gain more foreign investment and opening up the Mexican economy to foreign investors. He joined on the 1st of January in 1995, as one of the first members to join the organization. They have been a member since, but are now questioning US tariffs.Added to timeline:
