Description:

Towards the end of the Mexican Revolution of 1910, Venustiano Carranza and his supporters called for a constitutional convention to draft a new constitution. This draft was then proposed to congress, and the new law of the land was approved in 1917. It emphasized agrarian reform, included many significant economic reforms, and implemented important social rights to the Mexican people. After 34 years under a strict dictatorship, this constitution established a representative government, separation of powers, and a federal system.
