Description:

The IFE, now the INE, was a public institution created to organize and oversee federal elections in Mexico. It was created after a set of constitutional reforms were passed in response to the rigged election of 1988. The IFE is distinct and independent from the executive branch of the government and doesn't allow members with connections to any state power.
