With the truce established between the Lamanites and the Nephites Mormon sent out the message among all his people to gather at Cumorah. Over a period of a few years the Nephites answered the call and gathered by the thousands to Mormon’s standard.
Not all the Nephites came. Some deserted over to the Lamanites. Some fled into hiding. But the vast majority of them answered the call and gathered at Cumorah.
Mormon was 70 years old when he called the people to Cumorah.
