Description:
As the Nephites were scattering in all directions to escape the Lamanites, Mormon saw only one possibility for his people. So he sent a letter to the Lamanites proposing a final confrontation. He asked for a temporary truce, during which time he would gather the Nephites to the land of Cumorah, and there prepare for a last great battle with the Lamanites.
The King of the Lamanites seems to have liked the plan. It would have been to the advantage of the Lamanites as hunting the Nephites in small groups would have been time consuming and require a lot of resources. So, he agreed to the plan.
