The Mexican Revolution began in 1810 with a call to arms by Miguel Hidalgo (also sometimes known as Father Hidalgo), a revolutionary leader who's still viewed today as the founder of the nation. Though Hidalgo was caught and executed by the Spanish in 1811, his revolution continued with figures such as Jose Morelos until the Treaty of Cordoba that ended Spain's control of territory in Latin America, officially establishing the nation of Mexico in 1821.Added to timeline:
