Peter Crusat shot at a white bear and wounded it, but left his tomahawk and gun behind. He later returned and found out that the bear had taken the opposite route. Soon after, he shot a female buffalo and it tried to attack him. He hid in a ravine to lose it. This was from Lewis's journal.
