Rasputin was a Russian mystic and self-proclaimed holy man. He befriended the family of Tsar Nicholas II He gained considerable influence in late imperial Russia. We should care because he influenced the Czar and his wife and manipulated the country. This is important because he healed Alexei who suffered from hemophilia, if Alexei died the Czar would have been outraged and taken it out on the people.Added to timeline:
