The final chance for the south to win was the election of Abraham Lincoln to President of the United States. Abraham Lincoln was a member of a new anti-slavery Republican party. He got elected even without the ballot of 10 of the Southern states. The South thought Lincoln was against slavery and against the South He caused the Civil war because he opposed to slavery and he tried many of his ideas to stop slavery in the south.
