Description:

The South relied on slavery for labor to work on the fields. Many people in the North believed that slavery was wrong and evil. These people were called abolitionists. They wanted slavery to be made illegal in the United States. The South feared that their way of life would come to an end. This caused the Civil War because the people in the North didn't want slavery because they were being treated too harsh and the South wanted slavery because slavery helped their economy by working on a field or by mining.
