mar 22, 1765 - The Stamp Act
Description:
On March 22, 1795, Parliament passed a law that would force colonist to pay a tax for any paper that required a printed stamp, this includes all legal documents, diplomas, and licenses. The purpose of the act was to raise money from the current debt Britain was in after the Seven Year War. One of the biggest things that angered the colonist about this act was that it had nothing to do with trade, it just another way for Britain to take more money from the colonist The Stamp Act ended up with creating the Sons of Liberty and led the colonist to finally identify as American instead of British, yet another big factor in the War of Independence.
