aug 25, 2014 - Nuclear Crisis in Iran
Description:
Iran has not been honest about its nuclear programme and is seeking the ability to build a nuclear bomb, which was suspect by the world power, countries such as China, India, Brazil, and Russia. Iran stated it has the right to nuclear energy, and that its nuclear programme is for peaceful purposes only.
Diplomats have been seeking a deal that would allow Iran to reduce the growth of nuclear weapons but still produce and have nuclear power.
The nuclear programme of Iran went out to the public in 2002, when an opposing group exposed Iran's secret activity including construction of a uranium enrichment plant(can be used to make reactor fuel but also nuclear weapons) and a heavy-water reactor(spent fuel from a heavy-water reactor contains plutonium suitable for a bomb). These resources are used to produce nuclear energy that is used to create its weapons. Since then, the Security Council has acquired six verdicts requiring Iran to stop enriching uranium, and some large sanctions.
