Description:

December 26, 2003, a powerful earthquake hit Bam, the county of Iran. The earthquake's magnitude that struck the city of Bam and its surroundings in southeast Iran is at is 6.6. The night before the main shock, two strong foreshocks caused widespread alarm and panic were felt at approximately 3 pm and 10 pm local times, about 7 hours before the main shock. Another foreshock was strongly felt 35 minutes before the main shock (26th December at 04:33 am local time).
It also illustrated the terrible humanitarian and economic consequences of poor natural disaster planning and preparation for such extreme natural events.
