The U2 spy plane was created by the central intelligence agency. It was equipped with state of the art photography equipment that could take high resolution pictures oа headlines in Russian Newspapers when it flew over. The CIA assured Eisenhower that the soviets did not possess anti aircraft weapons sophisticated enough to shoot down such a plane. On May 1,1960 the spy plane disappeared while on a flight over Russia . Khruschev pulled of the wreckage of the U-2 and also captured the pilot. The Paris summit collapsed as a result of the shooting down of spyplane and Eisenhower was forced to admit that it was in fact a spyplane.
