Description:
It is at this time that God began to curse the land. The Gadianton Robbers had so infested the land that people began to hide their treasures in the earth to protect them from the raids of these secret bands.
Yet, due to the curse of God things became slippery. What this means is that people could not hold onto their goods. They would hide them in the earth, but when they came back to get them they were gone. It does not clarify is this was because the valuables were found and stolen by other men, or if God simple had the earth take them. But however the curse was fulfilled, it soon became impossible to keep such a stash in the earth.
