Description:
President signs this act to make it harder for oppose Federalists. Immigrants had to wait 5-14 for citizenship and voting rights and most voted for Democratic-Republicans. Also, the president could deport any immigrant he didn't like or was considered a threat(Alien Act). The sedition act was passed to prevent people publicly criticizing the government. People who did would be fined or could go to jail which violated the 1st amendment of free speech.
