sep 15, 15 - Proclomation of Lachoneus
Description:
Lachoneus was a just man, and could not be frightened by the threatening of Robbers. When he received the epistle of Giddianhi he was astonished at it, but he never sent a reply.
Instead he sent out a proclamation throughout all the land under his influence. In this he called the people to pray to the Lord to uphold their cause.
He also called the people to gather as one body, bringing all their food and all their cattle and animals. The place of this gathering was to be between the land of Bountiful in the north, and the land of Zarahemla in the south. This area was sufficiently large for all the people to gather as one to it.
Lachoneus also went out and preached to the people as they gathered. He called them to repentance and strengthened their faith and their resolve to defend themselves against their enemies. Largely because of this preaching (as well as the preaching of Nephi II, the people did repent and began to rely on the Lord.
