Description:
In this year Lachoneus, the Chief Judge, received an epistle from the leader of the Gadianton Robbers; a man named Giddianhi.
In this letter Giddianhi speaks in supposed pity for Lachoneus and the Nephites. He accusing them of having committed many unspecified wrongs against the men of the Robbers, and declares their hatred and desire to kill the Nephites is justified.
However, wanting to spare the Nephites he asks that they give up their land and turn over the government to the control of the Robbers. In exchange they would not be killed.
He gave them one month to decide before he led his armies against them with the intent to destroy all the Nephites.
