Description:

This battle is considered to be the first major battle that was fought and was marked by confusion as the Union and Confederacy had untrained armies and wore similar flags and uniforms. The battle was fought by the Union in order to cut the railroad running to Shenandoah Valley but Confederate troops fought long and hard and proved that this war could last longer than people thought at first.
