Description:
Sherman ordered his men to set fire to all of the infrastructure of Atlanta, and then started out on his “March to the Sea”. His Union army marched southward through Georgia, and after occupying Savannah, his army entered into South Carolina, where they burned down over a dozen towns. Sherman was best at recognizing the connections among the South’s economy, its morale, and its ability to wage war.
