sep 17, 1862 - Battle of Antietam

Description:

Antietam was the single bloodiest day in American history and forced the Confederate army to retreat back across the Potomac river. Though the Confederate army retreated, Lincoln was unhappy with General McClellan's failure to procure a clear victory, so he relieved McClellan of his command of his Army of the Potomac.
