Description:
Nephi, seeing the great destruction caused by the war, mourned for his people. As the war continued to get worse he came to the conclusion that the violence was incapable of bring the people to repentance.
So, he went to God in prayer and asked that the war might be replaced with a famine. It was Nephi's belief that a famine had a greater potential to humble the people into repenting.
So, God stopped the rain and the crops began to fail.
