jun 30, 23 BC - Trial of Nephi I

Description:

Five men were sent to verify that Seezoram had, in fact, been murdered. They all agreed that if it was true they would believe Nephi. So, they came to the Judgment Seat and found Seezoram dead, and from that time they were converted.
Now, the people of Zarahemla did not know about the encounter at Nephi's Garden, so when the servants of the judge spread the alarm they came and found these five men and supposed that they had committed the murder. So they were all arrested and thrown in prison.

The next day, while attending the funeral of the Chief Judge, the other judges asked about the five they had sent. After clearing up the confusion the five were set free and Nephi was accused of conspiring to kill Seezoram to trick the people into believing him a prophet.
When Nephi's arrest was ordered the five men who had been sent rebuked the judges, and confounded them in their words. But the judges were determined and so Nephi was arrested.

At the trial the judges questioned Nephi before the people, even offering bribes if he would confess. But Nephi rebuked and chastised them for their wickedness again. Then he gave them another sign.
He sent them to the home of Seantum, the brother of Seezoram. He gave them a script to follow, by which it was revealed that Seantum was guilty of the murder. Seantum denied Nephi's involvement, and Nephi was released.

The exactness of Nephi's prophecy, even down to almost the exact words, astonished the people. Many later sought him out to be taught and would later be baptized.
