jun 10, 1924 - Giacomo Matteotti Murdered

Description:

On May 30, 1924, Matteotti openly spoke in the Italian government, alleging that Fascists committed fraud in the recently held elections and rebuked their violent methods of gaining votes. Only eleven days later, he was kidnapped and killed by fascists. Many blamed Mussolini for Matteotti's death, as Matteotti was a threat to him and his campaign, although it was never determined if he was involved. However, his death was a shock to many and gained national attention, and set many different viewpoints of Mussolini by the public and by other nations.
