nov 10, 1483 - Martin Luther Is Born
Description:
Martin Luther opposed the Catholic Church for many reasons, first speaking out against indulgences. He gained a considerable following after publishing many works with the help of the printing press and his talent in writing. He advocated for strict following of the Bible and was outraged over the Catholic Church’s seeming disregard for the Bible. He believed that no one in the Church has read the Bible because they do not preach God’s true word and that the Bible should be the only authority in Christianity. His words were received well by Germans and similar movements began to occur throughout Europe. (4.1)(4.2)
