This event ends the bloody eight years of suffering and pain from the war, has estimated over one million lives were taken and resulted in no major territorial gains for either side. A Truce has been finally made, between Iran and Iraq. The truce was arranged by the United Nations, and there were no reports of any violations. the Iranian President, Hojatolislam Ali Khamenei, reportedly told his soldiers that there will be no shooting and the cease-fire must abide completely.
United Nations Resolution passed in July 1987, which called for a cease-fire, withdrawal of forces, the exchange of prisoners, direct peace talks and the setting up of an impartial body to determine blame from conflict. Both sides effectively applied the cease-fire that was made.
