Description:
The Treaty of Tordesillas was an agreement between Portugal and Spain that clarified the boundaries of the newly discovered land outside of Europe by Christopher Columbus. It stated that all islands west of the line would belong to spain and all islands east to Portugal. It was respected by both parties, however, after the Protestant Reformation many Protestant countries disregarded it as it omitted all other European provinces. (4.3)
