Description:

Martin Luther was a German priest and monk whose works helped start the Protestant Reformation. He attacked the sale of indulgences and attacked the Roman church for its abuses and called for a reformation. His works were spread widely due to the introduction of the printing press and sparked discussions and debates about theology across all of Europe. Due to his absence from England for personal safety reasons, his works were used as back bone to many revolts and calls for a reformation which led to the Protestant Reformation. (4.2)
