Description:

The Society of Jesus was officially founded on September 27, 1540 after approval from the Pope. Members of the society (Jesuits) were required to have a rigorous and advanced education in theology, philosophy, languages, sciences, history, and literature. This high education made Jesuits incredibly skilled missionaries who sought converts in India, China, the Americas, and other lands helping to make Christianity a global religion. (4.2)
