After five years of bloody warfare Moronihah once again abandoned his designs of driving the Lamanites out of the lands they had taken. While some of the Nephites had repented, the wickedness of the Gadianton Robbers still proved to make them too weak to fully contend with the Lamanites. So, Moronihah ordered an end to the conflict, refusing the lead the armies against the Lamanites anymore. He fortified the lands they had retaken, but left the rest of the land in the control of the Lamanites.

The Lamanites still retained the great city of Zarahemla.
