Description:
Once inspired to war by the Nephite dissenters, the Lamanites still took their time in preparations. It was a year later that they first sallied forth to attack the Nephites.
We are not given many details regarding this new war. But we are told that because of the wickedness that had spread among the Nephites they had lost the power of God that had sustained them. This was largely due to the spread of the Gandianton Robbers. However, as the Lamanites had always been far more numerous than the Nephites, this put the Nephites at a great disadvantage.
So, when the Lamanites advanced in this new war the Nephites were slowly defeated and driven back. All during this first year the Nephites lost battle after battle, with the Lamanites taking many cities.
