French legislative elections to elect the legislature of the French Fourth Republic were held on 1 and 8 May 1932. France suffered through multiple polarized coalition governments during the Fourth Republic. In fact, the frequent and drastic changes in government left many Frenchs distrustful of democracy. The Major political parties participating in the 1932 election held drastically polarized ideologies. The far-left French Communist Party got 17.89% of the vote, the centre-left Radical and Radical-Socialist Party got 19.18% of the vote, the centre-right Democratic Alliance got 12.57% of the vote, the right Republican Federation got 11.88% of the vote, Republican, the far-right Action Française got 20.51% of the vote. Édouard Herriot instead formed a government with the support of the centre-right.
