nov 19, 1863 - The Gettysburg Address

Description:

The main purpose was to honor the dead and to rededicate the living to the war effort in order to preserve freedom. In the address they said that government should be “of the people, by the people, and for the people”. The address was regarded as one of the greatest speeches in American history.
