jan 1, 1980 - Just Say No
Description:
Created inadvertently during the Reagan administration as part of the War on Drugs, “Just Say No” was just as much of a flop campaign as any other regulatory effort, despite the support some gave it. Born alongside the inception of crack cocaine and the issues that carried with it, the campaign was ideally going to stop drug use in kids by… getting them to say “no” to free drugs? Naturally, those who were going to do drugs did them anyway, even with the advent of D.A.R.E. trying to further push the issue. However, the one thing the projects did achieve by the 90s was make people afraid of drugs, making 64% of surveyed U.S citizens believe it was a “number one problem.”
