Description:

This doctrine warned European countries to not interfere with the newly formed governments in South America (Peru, Argentina, Chili, Colombia, and Mexico). This also stated that the Western Hemisphere was off limits regarding colonization. In addition, the US said that if the European countries were hostile towards the new governments, America would respond accordingly. This showed that the US was not a weak country.
