Regardless of peacekeeping Britain and France continued to steal American ships, take the sailors and force them to serve in the navy. Tired of the President Thomas Jefferson decides to follow George Washington's principle of isolationism and passes the Embargo act which bans all trade outside the USA. This hurt the United State's economy quite badly with the lack of global trade but also allowed the country to strengthen their domestic trade and become self-reliant. This costed Jefferson the next presidental ellection.
