Description:

The Battle of Atlanta was led by General Sherman that eventually grew into the merciless campaign across the largely unprotected middle and southern Georgia called the March to the Sea. Sherman left nothing after he was done, burning buildings, bending railroads, etc. The decisive Union victory boosted northern morale and helped Lincoln's reelection campaign greatly.
