4h 20min, sep 17, 1862 y - Battle of Antietam
Description:
Robert E. Lee makes a bold move when he invades the north. He did this for a number of reasons, such as potentially gaining foreign recognition or supplies, but his main goal was to station his troops in Antietam over the winter. The presence of Confederate troops in the north, Lee speculated, could heavily influence the upcoming election, disrupting the union and jeopardizing Lincoln's chances for reelection. Unfortunately for Lee, he was met with the bloodiest day in the civil war, after which Lee and his troops were forced to retreat back across the Potomac.
