The beginning of the war is set at the attack on Fort Sumter when Confederate president Jefferson Davis sent troops to oppose the reinforcements sent by Lincoln to protect the Fort that was under siege. A week after the confederates secure a victory in the first battle of the civil war, Lincoln passes a Proclamation of Blockade against Southern ports, which the supreme court uses to confirm the existence of the war.
