jan 18, 1968 - The Division of Assimilation in the Department of Immigration was renamed the Division of Integration (1968)
Description:
The government realised their policy of assimilation was not effective in converting migrants to an 'Australian' way of life. Eventually, they gave in and instead adopted a policy of integration, which embraced the cultural differences and traditions of the migrants. This change starte what we now know as modern day Australia, a nation of many cultures, faiths, backgrounds and lifestyles.
