Description:

Arthur Calwell became the first immigration minister for Australia in 1945. His Populate or Perish campaign was designed to increase Australia's population with the goal of improving Australia's national security. He believed with a larger population, Australia would be less of a target to be invaded and have a larger soldier force to comba the invasion force.
