mar 24, 46 BC - Northern Migration II

Description:

While it is likely that over the years after the first migration people had been filtering into the land Northward, this is the second time that a large scale migration took place.
Now, the first migrations seems to have been mainly motivated by the desire for living space. This second migration was caused by great dissensions among the Nephites. Pride and vanity had spread and was even affecting the church. Many who were dissatisfied with the Government or the religion moved north in order to separate themselves.
While they remained part of the Nephite people by heritage, those in the land Northward seem to have established a separate culture at this time, almost becoming a separate people.

Among those who went north at this time were many of the People of Ammon. Remember that this group started as the converted Lamanites who took a covenant never to take up arms. Those who entered this covenant never fell from the faith. It was their sons who fought with Helaman nearly 15 years earlier. It was likely these sons (who were now in their early 30's) that took part in this migration.
